That is a good picture of her. I'm glad she survived her birthday we kind of partied hard. Lots of eating that is and staying up late. What have ya, that is kind of hard for an 85 year old, and it was a good trip to take. Next time it is Amtrack and renting a car.
The round trip was $104.00 for one person. According to the ticket counter; the earlier the Amtrak train is booked, the more money you will save. Especially, if you travel during the holidays. The $104.00 does not include food, but you are aloud to bring your own food to eat in the lounge car or your travel seats. If you eat in the dining car which includes a waiter, you have to share the table with other people. This was unusual since I had to sit next to M, and not across from him. Otherwise, the experience of the dining car is nice since you are being waited on, and the food reasonably priced. We stopped at a Publix and purchased sub sandwiches to eat on the way back to Miami along with a few snacks. We didn’t realize we could bring our own food on the way to Jacksonville. The rocking motion of the train would bounce our bodies back and forth in smooth motion. We recommend a sleeper car for long trips if you wish to sleep lying down which does come with a higher price tag. We are going to travel on the Amtrak train in the future since it is less stressful than driving. We did not feel the driving jet-lag or as tired that driving a car can create.
We were told by a ticket agent, with whom J conducted an old-home-week type of conversation, that the earlier one books regular travel, the more likely there are to be "specials."
J and I should travel, he said, on J's pass when time is not of the essence. I don't know when that might happen, however.
We figured it up loosely and our travel on the pass, including renting a car at the destination point, would run approx. what the gas cost on this trip.
'Course, there is always the chance of "pass travelers" being bumped ...

How much does AmTrak cost when it's round trip? Just wondering.
Wonderful picture, Ranger. :)
