Southwest won a football game, today: sixty-three to nothing. Yes, that is not a misprint. Sixty-three. It made the evening sports report, highlights included.
They must have saved up their winning efforts, over the years, and used them all up in one game. Congratulations all you Alumni.
Savor the moment ....

Did they win against Coral Gables High School again? M. S. E. and I were at the football game when South West won the football game against Gables High in 97 or 98 with the South West Royal Lancer Marching Band. We were so excited because of the trophy that sat in our school for one year. WOW, this really is a moment in history. Purple and while is dynamite.
Yeah, who'd they beat? Alumni and partial Alumni might like to know...
SWHS beat Ronald Reagan HS, according to the announcer. Even he didn't know where RRHS is located.
We never heard of it either ... must be new. Never mind, that doesn't detract from the victory. Does it?
A little research turns up that Ronald Reagan - Doral High School (Home of the Bisen) began construction in 2005 and was dedicated 9-22-0. They voted to wear uniforms. Their website is available via http://reagandoral.dadeschools.net and they played SWSHS 9-26-07 at Milander Stadium according to their athletic schedule for football. They seem like nice guys!
In addition, J just read in the local newspaper that SWHS has a 3 win/1 loss record. They play CGHS later in the season, he says.
Bah Humbug! It is not like it is a reason to go to their football games. Football in Miami is not too good this season. Unless you are a Southwest Miami Senior High fan.
Bah, Humbug??? What, no school spirit going on there? Try being an alumnus of NoMiSrHi. That'll bring you down....
Big Ed graduated from a different HS. Perhaps that explains the: Bah! Humbug!
Southwest has purple pride too.

Southwest and the instrumental music department are entering into their second half century of existence. The history of the Royal Lancer Band is among the most storied in all of Miami. Both the commitment to excellence and the pride of the Royal Lancer Band are known throughout the district. Some of Miami’s most prominent musicians spent their high school years here at Southwest and it is the goal of the band to continually prepare students for the challenges and opportunities in their future

Okayyyy, lets hear it for the blue and gold of MHS - where J and I met.
What class, you ask? Latin class. Not sayin' a class-year and if you know, just never mind!
Yeah Eagles!!
Does it make me an Uber-Alumni if I still remember the alma mater?
Yes, you are super-uber. But, we knew that!
