Whadda YOU smell?

On July 9th of this year, we bought a replacement hot water heater after the thirty-plus-year-old one died.  The new one lasted two months.  We are in negotiations to get it replaced because the upper AND lower thermostats were replaced three days ago and now no longer work.  They want to replace the element(s) before giving us a whole replacement water heater.

I am beginning to smell lemons every time I turn on the hot water tap.

Funny. Smelling lemons...good one!

See if there are any recalls on your model. If not - and if you have the warranty - tell them you want to replace the entire thing at once, instead of trying various fixes that don't work and may make some other part go bad.

Carry a small thermos filled with lemonade and drink it right there in Customer Service. Stuff a Lemon Pledge wipe inside your sleeve and pull it out to wipe down the desk when speaking to an associate. Anything to get their attention and express your feelings on the unit you bought, paid for and now cannot use properly....
