A site which I visit frequently has undergone some visual changes. The changes are fun and funky. But, there is a also a new widget that announces the locations from which visitors come. I was surprised to find that my city and state were announced as being the source of my visit. If I wished to announce to the world where I live, and from what city I blog, I would put that information on my profile.
I won't visit any blog that seeks to publish any of the personal information of its viewers. This is different from showing a map of the world with pins stuck in it to indicate the sources of traffic. This new widget strikes a little closer to home than is comfortable.
No thanks, I won't be using one on my blog . . .

Do you suppose the Blogger didn't realize so much information was available on folks visiting the site or didn't think it mattered? 'Course, where you're from there are gazillions of possibilities. Where we're from - - not so much.
I'm with you! It's easy to figure out my general vicinity from my blog, but I'm very careful not to be too specific and to retain some semblance on anonymity.
Power to the People! There is enouph info out there on me already. I'm not going to make it worse.
Too true - seeing the words big and Ed in the same sentence, one automatically looks for the tall - uh Outstanding (!) person.
We would have blogged the our location from the start if we wanted folks to know about are private information. Power to our Privacy! With the approval from biged of course.
Amen, y'all. I feel so validated!
Yessss, we validate!
It's not mine is it?
No, Sarah, I visit your site more than you can guess. The site is not in my blog list. Yours is the map with the pins in it which I think is fun to see. I will email you and let you know what it is. 'K?
