Good vs Evil . . .

"is there coffee left?" BigEd asked. Then he checked the pot and said that there was. "Is it the good kind or the evil kind?" he asked further.

Well, BJ's had a coupon off Dunkin' Donuts coffee. We have both that kind and Starbucks packages open. Upon being told it was Dunkin' Donuts today, he informed me that was the evil kind.

Next time, I will ask him to guess which kind he thinks it is . . .

The funny thing is I think he has it backwards! I can only drink Starbucks coffee in lattes--otherwise it's too strong and bitter for me. And I LIKE strong coffee!

We have settled on Komodo Dragon as being the perfect Starbucks for home use. Five tiny, level scoops of whole beans make 12 cups in our Grind N Brew coffeemaker. If I don't use even one extra bean by accident, I get no complaints.

Still, the best coffee I ever, ever had was Hawaiian Kona. Unblended, straight Kona, fresh ground and served at a restaurant in Oahu to us newly arrived and badly jet lagged Haoles. We have been trying to replicate that cup of coffee ever since.

A Duncan Donuts store front caught my eye on my way to class in desperate need of energy. Next, I purchased a cup of Duncan coffee only to toss it into the trash. The coffee which included splenda, just didn't taste right. Maybe it was the milk.

We bought the house blend and had it ground at S'bucks. One level tsp per cuppa makes a not-too-strong brew. I find the beverage in-store is just too much for me in strength. I just wanted Mr. Peepers, not Incredible Hulk!

It seems that most coffee manufacturers want the user to drink really strong brew. J's mother gave us some flavored coffees. We tried the Ghirardelli Chocolate Raspberry first. The directions on the bag would have resulted in a sludge we could have walked on.
