Uncle Chek

Uncle Chek passed away Tuesday. He was Dad's brother. The picture above is of Lt. (J.G.) Chester W. Williams during WW II. The one below was taken on his 96th birthday, last December. He used to joke with me that Williams's don't get wrinkled and ask if I had any wrinkles, yet. He loved people, as you can tell from the picture below. And his courage was beyond question.

I know that he and Dad are having a lovely reunion, with all the rest of the family gathered around, slapping backs, telling stories, and making home-made ice cream on the back porch.

'Til we meet again . . .

The picture in the navy uniform was in the yard at 1139, out by the palm tree at the corner of the yard. Remember playing in the aurelia bushes and peeking through to Mrs. Hopkins' yard? The tree, the hedge and Uncle Chek all look so young. There'll never be another like him.

Wow, he looks great. Did he have a secret on how to look young while time passes by? He even has a full head of hair. He looks very young in the picture of him while wearing his WWII uniform. Interesting pictures. Thank you.

01 doc, yes that was the house at 1139. I considered that palm tree my very own property as it was the only one short enough for me to climb.

Zeta, I don't know what Uncle Chek's no wrinkle secret was. Good genes, maybe. Like the full head of hair, too - all the brothers had hair like that. And Unca Ron.

And 01 Doc, I just realized that the shadow by the base of the palm is from the Sapodilla tree. That was a really good *climbing* tree.
