For his birthday, J received, among other things, an alarm-clock/cd-player/radio, by Sony. The readout was an adjustable soft green. The clock and dual alarms were intuitive to set. The cd player sounded pretty well. It was a replacement for one that was zapped by a power surge. it's always somethin.'
However, it lacked a battery backup which I had not realized when selecting it. After resetting it four times in less than a month, I returned it, today. We will seek further for a better bedside device.
Or maybe, I'll just put mine on his bedside table ... with the ocean-sounds cd ready to play. 'Course, the readout on mine is so dim, you can't read it in the dark. It's always somethin ...'

Check out Circuit city. I have gotten a pretty good streak of electronic stuff from them. I never have to return things.
Brands Mart is one of my favorite places to shop. As a bonus, Wild Oats is on the path of US1 where you can stop for lunch. Two Starbucks Coffee shops are also located on US1. Circuit City is closer to your home and their electronic products work just as well.
Of course, you could shop Big Ed's room or Zeta's to see if any of their electronics have more features you want than any old box store items. Plus, they'd be free! Wouldn't they?
o1 doc, I like the way you think: "raid" instead of "shop." You, no, make that we must have had an infusion of some Viking blood, way back.
Uh BigEd's room is cloer to you than mine; plus, think of all the gas you will save. Its the help-e-self-e plan.
The gas savings would be an effective consideration. Hmmm.
Leave my room out of it. I'm going on vacation. I would expect my room will have all the alarm clocks that I have borrowed and received as presents still in it. Remember, I can repossess.
OK Ranger, I'll take the items and place them in my office. Trust me, they will be hard to find since we are moving stuff from one room to another to paint. HEHEHEh Finders keepers. After Bided forgets about them, I'll bring them to you. I'm about to take a test. Gota go.
Hides under cloak. sneers, "I have secret locaters in my alarm clocks now. They'll never hide em from me. MUHAHA" Comes out from under the cloak.
Muttering to self: Gotta find that cloak ...
