Back, back . . .

This morning, I was a teenager in the summer again: carefree, waking naturally and not by a regimented clock, wandering out to see what was up. Then, I was unkindly slammed right back to that part of high school where the oversleeping thing resided. Checking the morning paper at leisure, I realized this is a Thursday. In two hours, I had an appointment.

I can still do it. I still have it. I can still shower, wash and dry hair, put on an approximate face, and scoot in an hour and fifteen minutes. Okay, an hour and twenty.

But, I never want to have to do it, again . . .

Summer teenage years were carefree? I don't recall that part - I do seem to feel a sense of urgency to clean my room, pick up my clothes from the back of the couch, set the dining table, feed the dog-cag-bird of the moment and argue over whose turn it is to wash or dry dishes. As for the high school years they blur into classes sandwiched between interminably long bus rides. I have lately found myself enroute to work, frantically feeling my face and exclaiming, "I forgot to do my makeup!" Like there was someone in the car to hear me!

Oh, that is funny. I hope you had the emergency touchup kit with you. And if you talk to yourself, you have an intelligent and intuitive listener, no?

Have you ever worn one black and one navy blue shoe to work? I said I had a shoe emergency and would be right back. Heh.

LOL, doesn't everybody have a makeup forgetful moment? After Mark stopped laughing, he brought be the other shoe I needed to make them match. Thats what happens when you dress in the dark. Blue and Black shoes match at 6:00 a.m. in the morning, and clash by sunrise.

Fortunate for me I have a simple shoe organization. I don't run into these problems. I'm glad I'm not a teenager. Those were troublesome years.
