Weather cat . . .

Generally, one or another of us is at home. Mew is used to that status. According to her view, at least one of us should be in the house so that if she wishes to rub by an opportune ankle, she can find it immediately.

Yesterday, the worst happened. We all went out for lunch during the same time that there was the possibility of showers in our vicinity. We did not encounter more than sprinkles. Evidently, however, there was thunder within the acute hearing range of a lone cat. When we looked for her upon coming back, we found her in her safest place.

A back nook of BigEd's closet . . .

I had a cat named Kira Kitty. She did not like to be left alone. She too would retreat to the nether regions of which ever closet could be opened. The other kitty, Lester the Molester, would stand outside the closet screaming bloody murder when we got home.

Mew probably had huge eyes and if she could've spoken she'd have told you about the giant outside the house, smashing on a big bass drum and lighting the sky with a big old lantern. Any self respecting cat would have taken shelter in a sensible spot - like a dark noon in a friendly closet.

The kitty hasn't been in the closet since that day. she has been reassured that everything is alright and things are back to normal. She doesn't like things out of her normal routine.
