We spoke with our mechanic about wedging the car's window up and taking it home until the window part arrives. He readily agreed and propped it up from inside the door. He left the door cover off (in the back seat) so he won't have to take it apart a second time.
The injured vehicle is now at home doing light duty until the cast comes off. We don't ask it to use the broken wing - so the right rear door remains shut.
Now, there is no negotiation with other drivers before running errands.

Is the part MIA? Is the left and right side of the car still a problem for the manufacture?
Probably you should put that door cover in the trunk; in case of a sudden stop it could become airborn and strike the back of the seat, richochet over and hit the propped window - and cause it to slide down. Just a thought from a worry-wart.
Thank you for the kind worrying, 01 Doc.
We were so relieved to have it back that we forgot to ask how the correct part was finally shipped. It was the third try. *Charm* and all that.
When I see the guy again, I'll try to remember to ask.
Yay! The car is repaired!
