The cavalry cometh . . .

Our computer guru, S, called me this afternoon and volunteered to come over and look at the router config. Don't uninstall the software from the laptop, he advised. Frankly, that really means don't mess it up any further until I get there.

But he is much too nice to say that . . .

Yes, I too have heard the words you have. It is such a relief when he walks in the repair whatever item needs his attention.

If the computer guru -S- wants to open a North Florida branch, he'd be welcome to visit with his associate, -E- and we'll all hang out at Starbucks while he improves the state of online life. Seriously - how fast would I connect and run things if we went from dial-up to satellite - like HughesNet or DirecTV... and which would be better?

It's gonna' take me 17 hours to download the new version of AVG-Free and 12 hours if I buy the upgrade. I'm soooo tired of the slowness....

01 Doc:
S says that HughesNet has been doing internet service longest but that he doesn't have any experience with either one. With a little grin, he said that either one would be miles better than dial-up.

He said also to ask around for someone you know who has either service and ask about service interruption frequency.

He is a genius (proud relative here) who advises us to buy a cheap printserver and print wireless. BigEd can move the PC onto his desk as soon as the printserver comes to visit us. Or I could use the docking station, which I really like. One USB cable hooked up to the laptop and I have the use of the regular keyboard, mouse, scanner, and printer. I R an ecstatic camper.

I R Jealous. I R also saying Thanks to S. Suse used to do salellite sales and she told me Hughes sold the better equipment. When she'd get someone she really wanted to help, she'd default to Hughes instead of another provider of equipment. I'm leaning towards Hughes at the moment. Although DirecTV sells an internet kit. I haven't priced any of it. I R getting closer to doing something about it though. If complaints can hurry a thing along,
T. says go get what I want. I say, wait until after the plumber comes, dear. That's on Monday. After that, we'll see. We'll see.

Plumber? Monday? You mean you must live in dread for the whole weekend?

Or perhaps I am transferring my own feelings unnecessarily. You may have a pleasant exchange with your plumber. One can only pray that you do.
