Doing its best ...

Even the Hibiscus are feeling the lack of rain. Normally they can endure almost any kinds of conditions. This Arizona-yet-more-humid state we find ourselves in is affecting more than just the dusty cars.

This bloom should be so full one could scarcely find the center of it. Only the color remains lush, poor baby.

I miss hibiscus flowers. Do you remember The Yorks, who lived next door to our house? They had a beautiful line of hibiscus plants. Some were red, pink and yellow. One day in elementary school, I learned about cross-pollination. I decided to test it on their hibiscus flowers. I can still hear Mrs. York exclaiming "My Beautiful Hibiscus plants! Now they are all orange!". I never told her it was because of me.

I have no idea how you cross pollinate. I hope I am not allergic to these plants now that they are all over the front right side of the lawn. They are getting a little big, and our gardner is on strike or, whatyoucallit, busy.
